Fantastic French

Children at Colegate learn French across both key stages 1 and 2. There is a penfriend programme in place for some of the children in Year 6. Children learn through many enjoyable activities such as using an interactive CD rom and singing French songs. Children learn how to count in French, name colours and animals and how to talk about themselves in French too.

The Cedars School Link

Class 1.2 have been working with children from the Cedars. In December we worked with the Cedars at our school and at their school to make Winter collages and displays.
This term we have been working with our friends from the Cedars School on international topics. We made egg fried rice and learned about China at their school. At Colegate we made an American picnic of pancakes and maple syrup and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Yum!

Yo! Ho! Ho!

We decided to design our own Christmas card this year and we used ICT to help us.
We used a programme called ‘Paint’, and we had to learn to use a new tool called an airbrush.
Some of us used the drawing tool to outline our designs, while some of us drew with the airbrush. We could change the thickness of the spray as well as the colour. It was very effective when drawing a Christmas tree. Our parents were very impressed with our efforts.
